Mumbai: 29-year-old man arrested for stalking woman

A 29-year-old man has been arrested by the Colaba police on Sunday for following a girl till a church and then handing over a letter to her through a teenager which contained content that outraged modesty of the girl. The arrested person has been identified as Lloyd Nicholas Steven, a resident of Geeta Nagar in Cuffe Parade.

According to the police, the 24-year-old victim, a resident of Colaba was on her way to a church with her sister on March 8 around 8am. While they were approaching the church, a school boy came towards them handed over a letter.

“The letter contained content that outraged modesty of the victim. The victim and her sister then inquired with the boy who handed him the letter. The boy told them that a man sitting outside gave it to him and asked him to deliver it to the victim,” said an officer from Colaba police station.

The victim and her sister then informed priest of the church about the incident. The priest then went outside but could not see anyone. On making inquiries with the watchman, it was learnt that as soon as priest came outside the church, the miscreant had fled.

“On Sunday the victim and her sister again visited church, but this time, the alert watchman spotted the miscreant and informed them about him. The victim then made a call on the police control room and got the miscreant arrested. It appears that Steven has been stalking the victim since past many months,” said the officer.
