A 25-year-old committed suicide on Sunday morning by jumping in front of a metro train at Sakinaka Metro Station. The incident disrupted the metro rail services on that day.

"At around 9.20 am on Sunday, a youth who appeared to be around 25 years of age jumped in front of a Versova-Ghatkopar (towards Ghatkopar) train that was coming in at Sakinaka Metro Station. The station staff immediately informed the Sakinaka police, who have taken the body for identification and post-mortem," said a Mumbai metro spokesperson.

The deceased was identified as Udaykumar Ganeshchandra Prasad, who belonged to Madhubani in Bihar.

In order to retrieve the body, the train was evacuated and retracted from services and metro rail services got delayed.

As a measure to simultaneously operate the services while restoration work was underway, metro services were running in short loop and on a single track between Versova and Marol. The metro services were restored by 10.45 am.
