Mumbai: 16-yr-old from Jogeshwari claims molestation from 3 youths

A 16-year-old girl from Jogeshwari approached Meghwadi police claiming that three men tried to molest her while she was alone at home. She further informed that she fought with them, forcing them to flee. Though the police have registered a case against unknown persons in the matter, they are verifying the claims made by the victim.

According to the police, on Wednesday, the victim, a student of class tenth, has been changing her statements frequently. "The victim alleged that someone knocked on the door, and asked her about an address. After she denied knowing the address, the accused then requested her of a glass of water," said an officer from Meghwadi police station.

The victim claimed that while she was in the kitchen, she saw two more men enter the house."As per the victim, one of the accused grabbed her, while the others tried to molest her. The victim claimed that she fought with them and managed to get hold of a tubelight from the ceiling and hit on the head of one of her tormentors. The accused trio then fled from the house. She then informed her neighbours and approached us," said the officer.

The police however, are verifying the case. "We have registered a case of molestation under the sections of Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Preliminary probe revealed that her mother had been staying in UP and she wanted her to come to Mumbai. Also she has been changing her statement," said the officer.
