MTDC managing director Paraag Jaiin Nainuttie said, "We have introduced these offers considering the vacation period ahead. We aim to provide a cheerful and inexpensive travel experience to tourists from different walks of life."

Meanwhile, private hotels and tour operators said that due to heavy demand, many have jacked up their tariff. Still, there are many who are offering discounts to fill their inventory till the end of the season. "On most days, all rooms are booked for the season," said Manzar Hussain, proprietor of Manzar tours and travels.

"The next couple of months will be chock-o-block booked, as people are getting into a vacation mode. This has jacked up the trip expenditure for the last minute bookers," said Iqbal Mulla, ex-president of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI).
