MSRDC spends Rs900 crore on developmental activities in Vidarbha

The Maharashtra State Road Development Authority (MSRDA) has carried out various developmental activities including construction of roads, bridges and fly overs worth Rs900 crore in Vidarbha region recently.
It has carried out Integrated Road Development Project (IRDP) in both Nagpur and Amravati divisions in Vidarbha.
MSRDC has so far spent Rs129.50 crore and 50 out of 55 projects have been completed.
The work includes widening of roads, beautification of square, street lights and installation of automatic traffic signals, MSRDC sources said.
It has taken up an ambitious Nagpur-Aurangabad-Mumbai road project which will curtail the time to cover the distance and also precious fuel.
The road will be via Nagpur to Butibori, Wardha, Dahegaon, Pulgaon, Talegaon, Shingnapur, Karanja, Malegaon, Mehkar, Sindhkhedraja, Jalna, Aurangabad, Latur-Baijapur, Sawantsar, Puntamba Fata, Sinner, Ghoti, Shahpur and to Mumbai, they said.
It will pass through under developed areas of Vidarbha and Marathwada before entering Mumbai and will cut 50 kms distance from the present route. The total distance would be 700kms and require Rs700 crore, the sources said.
The Nagpur-Aurangabad-Mumbai road project will pass through industrial areas of Butibori, Amravati, Walunj and Sinner and religious, pilgrim and tourist centres like Karanja, Sindhkhedraja, Shirdi, Werul and Lonar.
The project was expected to kickstart development of city areas, generation of employment opportunities, industrial development and save in transport costs. Out of the 700 kms, 431 kms passes through Vidarbha.
An approximately 415kms of roads have been laid and Rs302 crore spent on roads passing from Vidarbha region, MSRDC sources added.
The work of remaining 16kms in Vidarbha region will be taken shortly which includes diversion in Buldana district and laying of four lanes from Butibori to Wardha and Ghoti to Aurangabad.
MSRDC has completed 10 Railway Over Bridges (ROB) and spent Rs140 crore. It will shortly launch ROB work in Waroa in Chandrapur district and in Katol in Nagpur district worth each Rs24.50 crore and Rs17 crore.
This will ease vehicular traffic at railway crossings, official sources said.
