Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Manikrao Thakare met Anna on Saturday afternoon in Ralegan Siddhi, the native village of the latter.

It was known that during the meeting Thakare told Anna that the Bill was going to be passed, and hence he should go slow on the issue.

Hazare made it clear that he would campaign against the Congress if it would not pass the Bill in the winter session of the Parliament. Hazare’s supporters are even targeting the party in the Lok Sabha by-election in Hissar constituency in Haryana. In this backdrop Thakare made a plea to Hazare.

The Congress leader also told the Gandhian that opposition parties, especially the Bharatiya Janata Party, was benefiting from the stand taken by him.

It was told that Anna said in a reply to the MPCC president that he was not against Congress personally but that the party should express its commitment to Jan Lokpal at the earliest.

Hazare also said that he could not help if opposition parties were benefiting due to his stand. The two-hour discussion took place at the Bhakt Niwas of Padmawati Mandir.
