Onion prices witnessed mixed trend in the markets in Nashik today with prices easing a bit but showed firm trend in neighbouring Pimpalgaon.

Red onions were auctioned this afternoon at between Rs500 and Rs4,200 per quintal, depending upon the size and quality of the crop, against Rs400-4,700 yesterday, Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee sources said.
In Pimpalgaon APMC, onion prices were quoted at between Rs1200 and Rs4,650 per qunital against Rs1,000 - Rs3,822 yesterday.
In Niphad, prices were quoted at between Rs800 and Rs3351 per quintal.
The APMC at Yeola was closed.
In the open market in Nashik, onions were sold at Rs30 to Rs45 per kg.
The arrival of crop in the APMCs was on the lower side.
Meanwhile, Shetkari Sanghatana has threatened rasta-roko agitation at Pimpalgaon on December 30 if the central government does not lift the ban on export of onions which has resulted in sharp fall in onion prices resulting in heavy losses to farmers, Ravi Devang, president of the state unit of the sanghatana said.
Leader of the sanghatana Sharad Joshi would be present during the agitation, he added.
