A pedestrian was killed in a mishap on Saturday, while another, who was battling for his life in hospital after a mishap, succumbed to injuries on Friday.

A 60-year-old unidentified man was killed after being hit by a speeding car while crossing the Pune-Ahmednagar Road at Vimannagar on Saturday night. The police arrested the car driver, Santosh Dattatreya Bhalekar of Vallabhnagar, Pimpri.

According to the police, Bhalekar was going from Wagholi to Pune. When he came near Saraswati hall, he lost control over the car and dashed the man.

In the other case, Bhagwan Appa Pawar (25) of Akurdi succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital on Friday.

Pawar had been hit by a speeding crane while crossing the road at Triveni bus stop at Akurdi on January 12. According to the police, Pawar had returned from work and was crossing the road at the bus stop.

He was hit by the crane and sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to injuries on Friday.
