They were supposed to patch up over tea on Tuesday. But Punjabi pop singer Mika Singh, who had apologised to actor Rakhi Sawant over the phone on Monday night, did not turn up at her home. Sanjay Chauhan, Rakhi’s media manager, told DNA that Singh had promised to visit the actor at her Andheri residence and ask for forgiveness. “But he did not show up. Maybe, he feared that the police would nab him,” said Chauhan.

Rakhi had filed a complaint at Oshiwara police station against Mika, accusing him of forcibly kissing her at his birthday party on June 11.

“I have decided to never to greet a man in this manner (with a peck on the cheek) in future,” she said. She ruled out that Singh’s apology would have salvaged their friendship. “I will not be able to think of him as a friend anymore.”

And even if Rakhi had wanted to patch up with Mika, police wouldn’t have taken to it kindly. “Even if Rakhi and Mika patch up, the existing case of molestation against Mika and physical assault charge against his friends would remain,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Bipin Bihari.

When told that Sawant had gone on record saying if Mika apologised to her before the media she would withdraw her police complaint, Bihari said, “If she approaches us with such a request, we will register a case against her for filing a false complaint. You cannot charge one day that you are molested, and want to withdraw the complaint next day. We will take the matter to the court and let her appeal in the court. From what we have seen in the electronic channels and the print media, it does not look a small issue.”
