Water supply was affected for three to four hours in Gorai area after the ongoing work on Metro-2A corridor damaged a pipeline on Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, supply was immediately stopped after they were alerted about the rupture. “There was no wastage of water due to damage in pipeline. It was repaired and water supply was restored by evening,” said S A Waghmare, assistant engineer (water supply) of R Central ward.

A spokesperson from MMRDA, the Metro project implementing authority, said officials of contractor J Kumar and the BMC wasted no time visiting the damage spot. “The pipeline was repaired by 6.15 pm,” said the spokesperson.
