A day after a 23-year-old doctor from KEM Hospital died in Hinduja Hospital, mayor Snehal Ambekar took serious cognisance of the matter and called a meeting with municipal commissioner Sitaram Kunte and other senior civic officials on ways to control the disease."We have observed that several high-end private societies do not allow the civic staff to enter the their premises, while they go there to put up posters and educate residents on dengue. We are thinking whataction can be taken on such errant societies, since they are obstructing government officials from carrying out their work," said Ambekar.dna had reported last month that of the 638 housing societies and individuals that the BMC had prosecuted by mid-September for enabling breeding of dengue mosquitoes in their premises, many cases involved noted celebrities and individuals staying in affluent societies.
