Not only did the Bahujan Samaj Party lose its voter base by nearly 1.50% in the recent assembly elections, many of its candidates lost their deposits as well. The BSP had fielded the highest number of candidates, 281. Of them, 252 lost their deposits.

Candidates of the Prakash Ambedkar-led Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh lost their deposits on 94 of the 100 seats they contested while candidates of the Ramdas Athawale led-RPI lost theirs on 67. The MNS lost its deposits on 66 of the 141 seats it contested.
