With an aim to highlight their pending demands related to the security issues of resident doctors, the Central Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) has written a letter to the chief minister.

According to MARD, they have written letters to the director of medical education and research (DMER) but they did not get any positive response. In their latest letter to CM Fadnavis, they mentioned 15 points, such as an alarm system, pass system, leave for resident doctors for maternity or treatment of TB, shortage of medicines and equipment, etc.

Dr Lokesh Chirwatkar, president of MARD, said, "Due to attacks on resident doctors in various government hospitals, we have been demanding an increase in security and safety. There are hardly any steps taken after the last strike resident doctors had organised this year. Through this letter, we have made it clear to the state government that if they don't fulfil our demands by December 20, we would go on a state-wide 'rasta roko' agitation."

Chirwatkar, added, "There is an increase in the number of attacks on doctors, due to which we had asked to implement the pass system and alarm system. But the implementation is yet to be done in state-run medical colleges."
