Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Tuesday said he has briefed UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on the devastating fire that gutted the top four floors of the Mantralaya last week.
"I met UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to brief them on the fire at the Mantralaya. I also showed them photographs of the gutted floors," Chavan told reporters here.
He also said that he has not sought any support from the Central government.
Chavan said he has asked for an appointment with Sonia Gandhi for Thursday, to discuss the fire issue.
Meanwhile, the State Government Engineers' Association on Tuesday met Chavan and assured him that any responsiblity bestowed on them would be adhered in a given time.
Praising the engineers, Chavan said other employees in the Mantralaya should also follow the path of the engineers in the renovation work.
