Senior BJP leader Ram Naik operates from the Goregaon East-based office in Smriti Housing Society and has been appointed Uttar Pradesh Governor for the past four years. The police soon arrested Gora Singh Rajput after locals saw them breaking the lock of the entrance.

According to the police, Gora Singh Rajput has been arrested earlier for petty thefts in his native village of Rajasthan and was released on bail. Rajput was with two other accomplices when their plan was busted by the building residents.

"We have found equipment used for house-breaking and theft from the accused. We produced him before the court and he has been remanded into police custody," said a Vanrai police officer.

"The main accused is known to target residences and offices located in desolated spots with weak security measures. We suspect their involvement in many such cases across the city," said Rajesh Pradhan, Additional Commissioner of Police for North Region.

"We are probing the involvement of other gang members in the case," said Pradhan.
