The man had come to surrender to the police after killing his 18-year-old friend for teasing him.

According to police, Afroz Shaikh, 18, a Dharavi resident had allegedly teased his friend Mohamad Ali Abdull Wahid Rahim, 21. Following this, Rahim took Shaikh under Raheja bridge to consume beer at around 12.30 am. He later pulled out a chopper and stabbed Shaikh several times, killing him.

"The accused got offended after Shaikh called him illiterate. The victim often teased him with several names. The accused had earlier tried reasoning with Shaikh, requesting him not to tease," said a Shahu Nagar police officer.

DB Thorat, Senior Inspector, Shahu Nagar police station, said, "At around 1.30 am, the accused walked into the police station and surrendered. We have arrested him under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.""We are investigating how the accused got the weapon. The murder was probably planned," said Thorat.
