Gulam Gaus worked in his family-run shop which provides barricades for VIP events and functions in the city
It was quick thinking on the part of 27-year-old Gulam Gaus that saved his life after he hid inside a cupboard in his shop when the part of Hussaini building collapsed in front of him. The man was pulled from the debris of the building and rushed to JJ hospital for treatment of injuries.
Gaus worked in his family-run shop which provides barricades for VIP events and functions in the city. Gaus was inside the shop when he heard a loud thud after a part of the building collapsed at the place he was sleeping. But luck was on his side. After debris started falling on the floor, the cupboard fell on him and he hid inside it. Gaus was later pulled out from the debris by the locals who heard him scream for help.
"I did not panic but when a portion of debris fell, I managed to enter the cupboard. I could hear screams of women and children who were trapped but could not help as I was stuck inside the cupboard," said Gaus.
