Juhu Police on Wednesday arrested a 32-year-old resident of Goregaon for allegedly making derogatory and offensive comments about Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on social media.

Aniket Patil, who works in a tour and travel firm, had allegedly posted derogatory and offensive comments about Fadnavis and his wife on Facebook on May 1.

A few Bharatiya Janata Party activists approached Cyber Crime Police in this regard and they transferred the case to Juhu police on May 14.

"We traced him using technical intelligence," said a police officer from Juhu police. "Patil had threatened to hurt Fadnavis and made offensive comments about his wife. We are probing the motive behind the posts. He was booked on charges of threatening, criminal intimidation and word, act or gesture to outrage modesty of a woman and punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form."

Juhu police are on the lookout for another person who had written something similar about the Chief Minister on Twitter, sources said.
