Man gets life in jail for raping minor daughter
The prosecution case was that the man had brought the girl to Mumbai from Kolkata
A Vasai court has sentenced a 38-year-old man to life imprisonment for repeatedly raping his minor daughter and making her pregnant. The teenager had delivered two babies because of the sexual assault.
Additional District Judge NR Pradhan convicted the Tulinj resident for sexual assault under the Indian Penal Code and the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
The prosecution case was that the man had brought the girl to Mumbai from Kolkata. He then raped her several times. The girl gave birth to two babies of which one survived. Following a complaint in 2015, the police conducted medical tests to establish his crime.
"The accused had claimed to be innocent but sustained collection of evidence exposed him and DNA tests nailed his lie. The documents of paternity were submitted to the court which turned out to be of major evidence," said Hemant Katkar, public relations officer for the Palghar police department.
