Hundreds of railway police and Railway Protection Force personnel are carrying out search and combing operations at Parel station after a man (name withheld) called up the Mumbai Police control room at 11:15 pm on Saturday to claim that two people who had come from Kolkata planned to bomb the station on Sunday.  The man told the police that he heard the two talk about a bomb blast that was supposed to occur at the station at a particular time (time withheld).

The caller, who called from his mobile phone, told the control room police that the two men work in a factory on 90 feet road in Dharavi and he claimed that one of the persons among the two had procured RDX (Research Development Explosive) for the purpose. He told the cops the name of one these two persons as well (name withheld).

"He disconnected the phone after he gave the cellphone numbers of these two persons. We are investigating the matter," said a police official. 

Meanwhile, sniffer dogs from the RPF's canine squad as well as armed personnel from the Railway Protection Special Force were deployed at Parel station. A team of the state's Anti-Terrorism Squad has begun investigations into the case, said officials.

The bandobast and combing operations at Parel station was wound up by the RPF and the railway police at 7 pm after a joint meeting. The investigators as of now have not found any truth in the Parel bomb threat, said sources.
