Maharashtra Transport Minister Diwakar Raote was injured on Wednesday when his car met with an accident in Mumbai.

A tourist car driver applied emergency brakes due to which the vehicle turned in the opposite direction leading to a collision with Raote's car at around noon near Kamala Mill bridge in Parel area of Central Mumbai, police said.

In the mishap, the minister suffered injuries on his leg. He was immediately rushed to the state-run J J hospital, a police official said. The driver of the tourist car was taken to N M Joshi police station.

Police said they may file a case of negligence against the driver of the tourist car after an inquiry into the incident. Also, they will record the statement of the minister and the persons who were travelling with him when the accident took place, police added.
