Soon after his Maharashtra tour, a fake message that National Congress Party (NCP) leader, Sharad Pawar will pay the mobile bills of the drought-hit farmers in Maharashtra has been doing rounds on WhatsApp.

The exasperated former Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar approached the Cyber Cell department and appealed them to investigate the matter at the earliest. Disturbed with messages circulating on WhatsApp, Pawar tweeted, "I have been informed that a fake message saying that I will pay the mobile bills of drought affected farmers in Maharashtra has been circulated on WhatsApp. Some miscreants have made a cruel joke on the plight of the farmers."

Pawar visited several parts of Maharashtra during his tour to address the drought issue and had extended support to the drought affected farmers. He had mentioned about providing fodder camps and water tankers to these farmers.
