Maharashtra: Now, an auction policy for sale of mines

According to the notification issued by the revenue department, the sand and mineral auction will take place after seeking permission from the local body.

The Maharashtra government framed the auction policy for sale of the Mines and Minerals. This move will streamline the auctioning process and illegal mining will be also averted.

According to the notification issued by the revenue department, the sand and mineral auction will take place after seeking permission from the local body. “Some portion of revenue earned in auctioning of these mines and mineral will be given to the Central government’s Prime Minister Mineral area development. If the local body of that particular area does not permit for the sand and mineral mining. And, it found out that illegal mining has been done in this same area. Then, action will be initiated against the officials and local body who are involved in this offense. The demarcation of mining areas will be done by the respective district collector where the mining is likely to take place,” stated in the notification.

It further reads that “The district collector will carry out the technical and geological survey of this demarcated mining area by the field experts. The e-tender or e-auction will happen of these demarcated mining areas only. The period of this area mining will be five years maximum. After that new auction will take place. The advertisement of e-tendering and e-auctioning need to be published in two district newspapers. It should be published 15 before the e-tendering and e-auctioning date. In the advertisement, the name of the mining area, locality, rates, and duration for mining need to be also given.”

“The auctioning of all mining area of one district should be completed in a day only. If it did not complete auctioning, then the next day, the process should be completed. Those who want to participate in the tendering process, he should deposit the Rs 5 lakh amount in advance.”
