Asking the government to fulfil their 15 demands, ninety per cent state board schools associated with Maharashtra Rajya Shikshan Sanstha Mahamandal (MRSSM) have decided to protest on November 2 by shutting down for a day. The Mumbai schools will support the protest but will not remain closed due to first semester exams going on.

The decision has been taken that the management of all state board schools will remain closed for a day. According to MRSSM officials, the education department keeps on asking one or the other information from schools that the teacher and principals don't get time to teach. According to them this year the government issued 526 government resolutions for schools. Different directions have irked the school management and teachers. The government is not recruiting non-teaching staff in schools despite the employees being retired because of which the principal and teachers have to do the work. The MRSSMl has nearly 6,000 educational institutes associated.

Vijay Patil, President, MRSSM, said, "No matter there is an exam in the schools, we will ask the teachers to conduct it in the ground and lock the school for a day to support a protest. We are tired of requesting the education department authorities and ministers to hold a meeting and have a discussion on our issues. But our request is going on deaf ears. The government is giving permissions for private schools to start next to aided schools. They are giving anyone to run self-finance schools. The teachers are also not paid salaries well because of less grant from the government. We have listed such 15 demands and asked the government to fulfil it."

Some of their demands are recruit non-teaching staff in schools wherever required. Implement Right to Education properly. Give 100% grant to schools who are getting 20% grants. Do not give schools to run to private sectors.
Mumbai Principals Association, spokesperson, Prashant Redij said, "Our association supports MRSSM protest, but we won't be closing the school on November 2 because of exams. We don't want students to suffer."
