Maharashtra Government has re-constituted two committees tasked with suggesting steps to improve road safety measures.Principal Secretary (Transport and Ports) SK Sharma Tuesday said the state-level committee headed by Chief Minister has been upgraded to a Council to comprehensively implement steps to ensure urban and rural road safety.Besides, the Council will focus on environment awareness to maintain road safety, he said.The council will meet every six months and go through the plans for road safety measures, implementation strategy and monitoring mechanism.The high-level Council will have several Ministers and senior bureaucrats as its members, Sharma said.The district-level road safety committee, to be headed by the Collector/Police Commissioner, will meet every three months, he said.
