The government had earlier decided to do away with announcing the overall toppers and felicitate only the subject toppers.

VS Mhatre, divisional board secretary, said, “We are sending cash prizes ranging from Rs500-Rs1,500 to the respective colleges.”

The English and mathematics toppers are from DG Ruparel College, Matunga. Tushar Desai, vice-principal of the college, said, “The college results are excellent and several students have scored above distinction.”

Though the division board announced Aashika Dabholkar as the topper in English with 94 marks, Mayuresh Dharap from ML Dahanukar College in Vile Parle had scored 97 marks. While Sachin Kandari is the maths topper, Darshini Kothari from NM College was announced as the topper in economics.

However, Purva Kulkarni is upset that her name isn’t among the toppers despite getting 100 marks in physics. “After getting the scores online, I was expecting recognition from the board,” she said.
