The fire was due to a suspected short circuit in the storeroom of Cinepolis theater inside the mall. At least 12 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire.

"The fire was quickly detected by our internal alarm system and the Thane fire brigade was informed about it," says a spokesperson for Viviana mall.

"Our staff doused the fire using fire extinguisher and other measures.  The fire brigade which reached the spot also helped to remove the smoke and situation was under control by 6.30 am," he added.

No casualties and injuries were reported.
