Upset with MNS president Raj Thackeray rubbishing the government’s claims of Harisal village in Amravati being the first digital village, the BJP on Tuesday released a video to counter Thackeray’s claims.
Senior BJP leader Vinod Tawde told mediapersons that Thackeray was lying. Tawde alleged that the Harisal village videos being circulated by MNS workers were taken in October 2018. “Students in Harisal are taught how to use tablets. They are enjoying the education being imparted in a digital way,” he said.
The minister said that MNS leader claimed that Harisal villagers do not have ATM cards. “The Harisal village has a population of 1,479. The bank has issued 4,380 ATM cards,”Tawde said.
Rubbishing Thackeray’s allegations on poor healthcare and erratic power supply, Tawde said that the services were pathetic before 2016 but have improved now. There is telemedicine facility at Primary Health Centre. Doctors at PHC after examining a patient consult experts from far off places via telemedicine.”
Taking a dig at the meeting between NCP’s Sharad Pawar and Thackeray, Tawade said, “They met at Balaji Hotel, Solapur so that Pawar could provide script for Thackeray’s future speeches,” he said.
Citing Congress leader cum former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan’s statement that Congress and NCP are fighting this election for existence, Tawde said that Congress may not get a single seat in Maharashtra.

Tavde said that BJP plans to approach the Election Commission against an advertisement issued by the mega alliance Opposition, questioning the government’s commitment toward kin of farmer’s who committed suicide. “The advertisement alleges that the government gives Rs 10 to a dead farmer’s family for the education his daughter which is a blatant lie,” he said.
