He has been a medical facilitator in rural areas for several years, helping patients get access to world-class aid in hospitals in cities such as Mumbai. Backed by an RSS background, Rameshwar has helped the government arrange medical camps across the state, covering the treatment of 35 lakh patients, of which five lakh benefitted from major medical services. Rameshwar, however, says nothing has been decided yet. "Whatever my party and leaders decide, I will accept that decision. I am a loyal soldier of the party," he told DNA.

Shetty, who has handled work relating to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, is hopeful that the BJP will give him the opportunity to serve the people on a larger platform. Jadhav, who is lobbying for an NCP ticket, has already resigned from government service. "I have started campaigning too and received an overwhelming response. As per caste calculations, I have the upper hand. Thus I expect the party to give me the opportunity (to contest polls)," he said.
