MUMBAI: Pramod Mahajan's domestic help on Friday told a court that he had seen Pravin attempt to shoot an already injured BJP leader on April 22, 2005.

Mahesh Wankhede, the domestic help, said he was in the bedroom at the time of the incident when he heard some sound like that of gun shots in the other room.

He said he rushed to the room where he saw an injured leader and Pravin attempting to fire at him but the gun was not working.

Wankhede is a key prosecution witness in the case as he was the only other person present in the house besides Pramod's wife Rekha Mahajan when the alleged shooting occurred.

Pramod Mahajan, general secretary of the BJP, was allegedly shot and killed by his brother Pravin, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges of house trespass and murder.

Wankhede also said that he had said seen Rekha Mahajan abuse and push Pravin out of the house after the incident.

He also identified Pravin in the court as being the person who was in the Mahajan residence on April 22, 2006.

Wankhede's testimony before the court is to continue on May 22.
