MUMBAI: The body of BJP General Secretary, Pramod Mahajan, who succumbed to bullet injuries at Hinduja hospital, was on Wednesday taken to GT hospital in south Mumbai for post-mortem, hospital sources said.

According to the police, the three bullets embedded in the body would be removed and sent to the forensic laboratory for analysis.

Police have already sent Mahajan's blood-soaked clothes for chemical analysis, while the bullets will be sent to forensic laboratory to check if they were fired from the gun seized from accused and younger brother Praveen Mahajan, sources said.

Mahajan's brother-in-law and Maharashtra BJP leader Gopinath Munde accompanied the body to GT hospital. The post-mortem would be conducted by a team of doctors at GT hospital, the sources said.

After the post mortem, the body would be taken to the party's state headquarters at Nariman Point in south Mumbai where it would kept until late night to enable BJP workers to pay their last respects to the departed leader.
