Piyush Goyal, the Union minister of state with independent charge for power, coal, new and renewable energy, on Thursday, said entities like MahaGenco would be provided coal mines on a priority basis.He was speaking at the meeting of MPs at Sahyadri guest house, called by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.

In his speech, Fadnavis underlined the fact that the state was not getting enough coal and that that was affecting power generation. Goyal informed the meeting that coal mines would be allocated through e-auction and the highest bidder would get the contract. He added that entities like MahaGenco that use coal to generate power for the state would be provided coal mines directly (without auction being conducted) at the base price.

Goyal also said henceforth states would be provided coal adequately, and that the government would prepare a policy in this regard that would take care states' needs for the next 30 years.
