Love-lorn Maharashtra Security Forces jawan shoots self in mouth at Vile Parle

A 23-year-old Maharashtra Security Forces (MSF) jawan who was on duty shot himself in the Airport Colony at Vile Parle East on Saturday. The deceased identified as Mohan Eknar had resumed his duty on Saturday after a leave for four days.

According to the police, Eknar had left behind a suicide note where he blamed three people for his death. Investigations reveal that the three men hailed from his village in Washim district of Maharashtra. A police source told DNA that Eknar was in a relationship with a woman from his village a few years back who got married to someone else. Eknar who still had feelings for her kept approaching her frequently, following which she lodged a police complaint against him at the local police station.

"Eknar lived at the quarters assigned for the MSF personnel inside the Airport Colony. He took charge at around 3 pm on Saturday and was posted near a community hall. Co-workers said he was busy jotting down all the contact numbers in his phone onto a piece of paper. He did not speak much with any of his colleagues. He also borrowed a co-worker's phone claiming that he wanted to make a phone call to his brother," said a police officer.

Between 5 pm and 5.30pm, he headed to the chowky while his colleagues were busy at work. They were taken aback on hearing a gun shot from the chowky. The Vile Parle police were summoned and Eknar was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead. Eknar had shot himself in the mouth. His parents were informed and his father reached Mumbai on Sunday.

"We have recovered the note from the spot and we are ascertaining the identity of the people mentioned in the note. Eknar's father is also being interrogated and an Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered in the matter," the officer added.
