Riyaz Bhatkal, the absconding Indian Mujahideen leader, and his elder brother Iqbal might still be in the country. And the police have issued lookout notices against them.

“We issued the notices against them two days ago. The notices have been sent to ports and airports so that they cannot flee the country,” Rakesh Maria, Mumbai crime branch chief and joint commissioner of police, said.

The police had earlier issued a lookout notice against Abdus Subhan Qureshi alias Tauqeer. He is accused of sending the terror emails. And the police believe he too is in the country.

The notices issued against the Bhatkal brothers have their addresses and details of the cases in which they are wanted, a crime branch officer said. He said certain things divulged by the arrested Indian Mujahideen men during interrogations have helped the police keep track of the Bhatkals.

“Riyaz fled four days before we raided his house at Bhatkal in Karnataka. We have identified the place where he was staying. They (the brothers) are in the country. And we are trying to get hold of them, the officer said.

No mobile phones: The police have learnt through interrogations of the arrested Indian Mujahideen men that Riyaz Bhatkal had advised them against using mobile phones to avoid leaving a trail behind in case one of them got arrested.
