Amidst fresh campaign launched by opposition parties against the use of EVMs, polling in almost 10 constituencies in Maharashtra partially impacted due to glitches in the EVMs. The faulty EVMs were subsequently replaced by the district administration which led to a smooth polling in these constituencies.

As per the information compiled by the state election department, about 400 EVMs were replaced in Solapur where former union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde is locked in a triangular contest against BJP and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi. In Solapur, Ambedkar alleged that vote was going to BJP due to EVM malfunction. The district administration changed such machines.

State election department officer however, ruled out the possibility of manipulation of EVMs.

In Nanded, the district administration swung into action after it received complaints relating to snags in 78 EVMs. Former chief minister Ashok Chavan faces tough fight against BJP nominee Pratap Chikhalikar.

Meanwhile,ten Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra recorded 57.22 per cent voting during the polling held on Thursday in second phase of General Elections 2019. Polling was going on till evening in some parts of various Constituencies and 57.22 per cent polling is till 5 pm in the evening. One person was booked for doing Facebook live in Osmanabad.

Addressing a press conference at Mantralaya additional chief election officer of Maharashtra Dilip Shinde informed that by and large polling was peaceful in all the ten Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra. He informed that FIR has been filed against one person Pranav Patil in Osmanabad who live streamed on Facebook from the polling station while he was voting. Another person Shrikrishna Dhare from Balapur in Akola is booked for trying to destroy ballot unit because he wanted to use paper ballot instead of EVM.

Shinde informed that there were 87 polling centres which were handled by 100 per cent women staff. There were 20716 polling centres and election commission did videography at 1641 polling centres and went for webcasting live at 2129 polling centres.
