The development of a trough between Lakshadweep islands and the Konkan coast, coupled with a moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal, has resulted in isolated rainfall across Maharashtra from Monday.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) director for weather forecasting, Medha Khole, told DNA on Tuesday that the state, with the exception of Vidarbha, would experience isolated rainfall in the next 48 hours. The city too would experience light rain in some areas in the next 24 hours.

She said this weather condition is not unusual, as there was a transition from the winter period (Jan-Feb) to the pre-monsoon period (March-May).
