The police seized the skin of a leopard worth Rs1 lakh in Umbraj town near Kolhapur. Three persons have been arrested so far in the case.

Two youth who were arrested along with the skin have been identified as Suresh Kisan Shelke, 34, resident of Tarukh village in Karad, and Nandkumar Balu Jagtap, 31, resident of Patan).  After inquiry, the police arrested Bharat Bhagwan Powar (28) in Patan on Tuesday.

The Umbraj police had received a tip-off that some persons were coming to Umbraj for selling skin of wild animals. On Tuesday morning, the police team led by police sub-inspector Harish Khedkar, head constable Ananda Bhoite, Ravi Shinde had laid a trap near the bus stand. 

Shelke and Jagtap came to the stand on a motorcycle. The police nabbed them on suspicion and after conducting an inquiry, found the skin of the leopard wrapped in a paper.
