Light emitting diodes (LEDs) will improve its aesthetics and look in the east.
Central Railway (CR) has planned a hi-tech method to light up Dadar station’s facade. Light emitting diodes (LEDs) will improve its aesthetics and look in the east.
“Lighting will be done with the help of adjustable colour-lighting projectors that would flash lights of different colours on the exterior, which is also getting a coat of aluminum and glass. This will be at a cost of Rs19 lakh,” a senior official said.
“For many people coming from outside, Dadar is the first entry station that gives an impression of the city. The facade opposite Swaminarayan temple has been recently done up and lighting arrangements will be taken up here to improve the aesthetics further,” he added.
“Too many and gaudy colours will put people off. The railways should select milder ones,” Rakesh Kumar Sen, a professional lighting expert, said.
“We welcome the idea. But there should be maintenance. The new elements should not become junk,” Ramesh Ketkar, a regular commuter, said.
