The last surviving builder of the controversial Campa Cola Compound, BK Gupta, passed away on Monday. Gupta's company had constructed the BY Apartments and Midtown Apartments in the compound.
Gupta's death comes a day after Chakravarty Chawla, an 83-year-old resident of Orchid Apartments, passed away. A fortnight ago, Chawla was admitted to Tardeo-based Bhatia Hospital after he suffered a stroke.
The residents had filed a criminal case against Gupta, his company as well as the heirs of the other two builders Yusuf Patel and PSB Constructions. Gupta was also the builder of Pratibha Building in Breach Candy, which is embroiled in litigation.
Residents said the case would be transferred to Gupta's heirs. "It is the company that was involved in the illegalities. So, the case would be transferred to his son Sumit Gupta as all the rights of the company have been transferred to him," a resident said.
