According to Tehmtan Davar's (80) complaint, his flat in Dadar started leaking in 2008. He gave the contract for sealing the leak to Percy Mahuvawalla of Lower Parel and issued a cheque for Rs 25,000 for the job.

After, doing the work the contractor assured Davar that the flat would remain leak-free for at least ten years. However, a few months after the repair work, during the rainy season, the flat started leaking. When Davar asked the contractor to repair it, he failed to pay heed. Aggrieved, Davar approached the consumer forum.

The forum asked the contractor to file a reply, but he failed to appear before it. The forum then pronounced its verdict.
