Lady police constable hangs self

A 22-year-old lady constable, posted at Naigaon Local Arms(LA) unit, committed suicide by hanging at her own residence on Tuesday afternoon. The Bhoiwada police have registered an accidental death report.
The deceased has been identified as Manju Vasant Gaikwad.
According to police, Gaikwad, who hailed from Nashik and was posted with LA unit of Mumbai. Gaikwad stayed with her sister and brother-in-law at BDD Chawl in Naigaon. Gaikwad was on night duty on Monday and returned around 8 am on Tuesday at her residence.
There was no one at her home when Gaikwad allegedly committed suicide. Around 2 pm when Gaikwad'sister returned home, she found Gaikwad hanging from the ceiling fan.
With the help of police and neighbours, Gaikwad was rushed to KEM hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
"Gaikwad used her Dupatta to hang herself, we suspect that she hanged herself around 12:30 when there was no one at the home," said Deepak Devraj, Mumbai police spokesperson.
