The Kalachowki police have initiated a probe in the matter and have registered an Accidental Death Report for the same.

According to the police, the incident took place on Wednesday late evening at the Currey Road Station. Singh, a native of Uttar Pradesh, had come to the city recently for work. The incident took place on the first day of his job on the foot over bridge.

“Singh had joined his duty around 4:30 pm and while he was working on it, he slipped and fell off from a height of 40 feet sustaining head injuries as there was no safety gear provided during the work,” said an anonymous co-worker.

“We immediately rushed him to KEM hospital. He was in critical condition and he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday afternoon,” he added.

“Singh was hired by a contractor on a contractual basis and he slipped when the train came and fell off on a wall in which he sustained the head injury,” said Dilip Ugale, Senior Police Inspector of Kalachowki police station.
