Kopri building construction completed

We had reported about the plight of the 900 students at the vocational training institute in Kopri, in December. The students were forced to attend class in a dilapidated structure, despite there being a new structure ready. These students will now occupy the new building as the work on a rainwater harvesting system has been completed. The Occupational Certificate (OC) could not be granted without theand there was not enough funds for it.

After dna published this news in December, the state government issued orders for the work to begin and within two months the students will get a swanky building to study in. "It is a huge relief, we have been trying hard all these years to complete this work, the condition of the old building was pathetic. When students from other well known schools come here to study we were ashamed to give them such bad facilities. But, now with the work completed, we can easily conduct classes in this structure with all facilities," says, L W Waghulde, Principal of the vocational training institute.

Sanjay Kadam, deputy engineer, Thane Municipal Corporation, says, "The structure is now complete and we are in the process of issuing an OC. It will be issued within a few days and after this they can start their classes in their new building."

The old building that was built in 1955, had broken roofs, benches and blackboards. On the other hand, the two storeyed new building was lying unoccupied all these years. The staff were finding it difficult to occupy 900 students in the dilapidated structure as there were various subjects like Building Maintenance, Mechanical Trade and Electrical taught here. They were being taught in different shifts so as to occupy all students.
