Independent corporator, Ujwal Keskar, on Saturday said that the Chief Minister or deputy Chief Minister should immediately intervene and cancel the alleged illegal order of suspending the hoarding policy of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) or else he would file a complaint with the Lok Ayukta.

Keskar said in a statement that minister of state for urban development, Bhaskar Jadhav, has ordered a stay to the hoarding policy and suspended the relevant resolution of the general body (GB) of the PMC.

But since the PMC is under the control of the chief minister, not the minister for urban development, the order passed by him is illegal, he contended.

The state government can stay or cancel a resolution of the PMC under section 451 of Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporation (BPMC) Act, 1949, only if the resolution is against larger public interest or if it is causing financial loss to the civic body.
