In a major development, brothers Kripesh Sanghavi and Jigar Sanghavi who were on the run since after a fire at their establishment 1 Above at Kamala Mill on December 29, have been finally arrested. The police had also put a reward of Rs 1 lakh for anyone who would provide information about their whereabouts.

“Kripesh and Jigar Sanghavi have been arrested from Mumbai,” Joint Commissioner of Police, Law & Order Deven Bharti confirmed to DNA. According to the police sources, Sanghavi brothers would be produced before the Bhoiwada Magistrate’s court on Thursday.

The duo have been charged with Indian Penal Code sections 304 - Punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, 337 - Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others, 338 - Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others and 34 - Common intention.

“Arrested accused Vishal Kariya, who is friends with Sanghavi brothers had tipped us about whereabout of two accused after which they were nabbed and placed under arrest,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone III, Virendra Mishra. As per the sources, Sanghavi brothers were picked up from Bandra where they were planning to meet their lawyer.

Third partner of Sanghavi brothers, Abhijeet Mankar is still on the run, sources said.
