Days after a minor was molested in Thane's civic hospital by a staffer, it has emerged that another minor was allegedly raped repeatedly by a doctor in Kalyan.
In the recent case, the 17-year-old worked as a compounder at the doctor's clinic in Netivli, Kalyan East, where he assaulted her repeatedly. The girl was too scared to out him till a medical shop owner filmed the rape on his cellphone and also demanded sexual favours from her. Terrified of this blackmail, the girl lodged a case against the doctor and the shop owner on Tuesday.
"The doctor would flirt with her but she ignored it as she could not afford to lose her job," said a cop from Kolshewadi police station, Kalyan. But a few months back he forced himself upon her. "She she kept mum," said the cop, "so he continued the assaults till one day the owner of a neighbouring medical shop got to know about it. He filmed the rape and started blackmailing her for sexual favours." She then told her family and they lodged a police complaint.
The doctor was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and was produced in Kalyan court which remanded him in police custody till January 1. The chemist is absconding.
On December 22, a 16-year-old admitted in the ICU at Kalwa's Chhatrapati Shivaji Hospital was molested by a cleaner, 39. A patient saw it and raised an alarm.
