There appears to be a clear division among Juhu residents over the plot near Kaifi Azmi park which is under the care of Ronson Foundation (RF).

Though most of Juhu residents are protesting against RF and demanding that civic authorities revoke their agreement, many are in openly supporting the foundation.

Narayan Valia, president of JVPD Resident’s Association said, “A few citizens like Ashoke Pandit do not represent our association and we don’t agree with him. We support Ronson as long as they do everything legal.”

“We have no problems with a club being built on the plot. The group that is protesting is never present during crisis and takes up issues like these,” said Harit Desai, member of the association.

Sohil Kusumgar, trustee of Ronson Foundation, said that Gulmohur Area Societies Welfare Group had earlier expressed interest in the plot. “In a petition they stated that the plot should be allotted to them under DCR (23) which allows 15 per cent construction. They also said that it should be treated as an ordinary writ petition and not public interest litigation.”
Interestingly, Congress MLA Ashok Jadhav is also supporting the foundation.
