The protest sparked off after a few relatives attacked the resident doctors of JJ Hospital on Saturday.

Around 400 resident doctors began a protest. Although the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) conducted a meeting with Girish Mahajan, the minister of medical education, on Monday, the doctors are in no mood to stop their protest.

After the meeting concluded, it was decided that a survey of all the four hospitals under the Grant Medical College needs to be conducted. The purpose of the survey is to highlight the key areas which need more security.

Doctors are now demanding the implementation of ‘one ward one guard’. Dr Sumit Aggarwal, a resident doctor, said, “We want the ground-level implementation of the security system.”
