The coin Scorpio Gold Zodiac Mohur of emperor Jehangir is estimated to be sold for Rs80 lakh. In an auction in New York, a Scorpio Gold Zodiac Mohur minted in Agra in the year 1618 CE had gone for $450,000 (about Rs3.11 crore).

In the auction set to be held in Mumbai, several other coins that have never been seen before will be up for sale. "Some of these coins are so rare that they are absent even from the collections of national museums, such as the Shivaji Maharaj Rupee, wherein the Maratha warrior is paying obeisance to Shri Jagadamba," said Todaywalla.

Other highlights in the auction include a mohur of Mughal empress Noor Jahan, one from Tipu Sultan's era and the Trimurti coin.

With growing awareness for these coins, the demand for them is increasing exponentially, while the supply is diminishing, making them an attractive investment option.
