After the attack near Jama Masjid at Delhi on Sunday, a high alert was sent across the city and security has been beefed up at all possible places that could be targeted by terrorists.

There were nakabandis at all junctions across the city where in policemen checked private vehicles as well as taxis. All the material lying inside the bonnet was checked thoroughly to find out if there were any vehicle carrying explosives or weapons.

This was done to avoid any unforseen incident. This checking comes in the wake of recent intelligence inputs that claims two terrorists identified as Kalimuddin Khan alias Rameshwar Pandit, 28 and Hafiz Khijir Ulla Sharif, 25 both reportedly members of terrorist outfits Laskar-e-Toiba and Huji were in the city to launch some drastic terror operation. Security officials had sounded out  a high terror alert.

Police had also released the pictures of the two suspects who are said to be at large and have the potential to launch some attack during the festive season. Combing operations were being conducted by local police in their respective jurisdictions across the city and also in neighbouring commissionerates like Thane, Navi Mumbai and Pune. A fresh search has been launched to look for the two suspects.

Meanwhile, police is investigating the case on the same lines of Delhi attack. After the Delhi attack, an email was reportedly sent by banned terror outfit Indian Mujahideen (IM) wherein they claimed that they would launch attack on Mumbai. All this actions forced police to intensify the security operations in the city. Armoured vehicle, combat teams, Quick Response Team (QRT) and other additional teams of police were deployed across the city on Monday while local police carried out checks in their areas.

Areas where there are heavy slum pockets were searched and local people were questioned and told to inform if they find any person moving suspiciously, informers have been asked to keep a check in their areas and also inform police if they come to know of any such person.
